'Wheat Flour, Chickpea Lentils Provided as Ration'

Q: How do you ensure social distancing outside your shops?

Gram Seva Sarkaari Samiti member (part of the Public Distribution System): Now there are no exclusive days for providing ration, which ensures that there is no crowding outside the shop.

People are also instructed to wear masks and maintain physical distance.

Q: Apart from grains, is anything else offered to beneficiaries?

Gram Seva Sarkaari Samiti member: Currently, we are only giving wheat flour and chickpea lentils to people.

Q: What is the process of distributing food to households?

Gram Seva Sarkaari Samiti member: The Food Corporation of India delivers the allotted ration to our PDS shop every month. We are not facing any difficulty in the procurement of ration right now.

The beneficiary or one of their family members comes to the shop to collect their ration.

This interview was conducted with a Gram Seva Sarkaari Samiti member in Jaipur, Rajasthan in Hindi on 14 July 2020, and has been translated.
